Sustainable Building Careers Pathways Project in Southern Oregon
Thanks to a generous grant from the State of Oregon's Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development, OBC will partner with Rogue Community College and the Southern Oregon Educational Service District to create a new pathway from high school to post-secondary education in the high-growth, high wage industry sector of Sustainable Building. The project will include a one-week Teachers Workshop that will bring together high school and community college science and math teachers, counselors, curriculum staff and administrators with industry experts in the fields of sustainable architecture, construction and engineering. Out of the workshop will come a Pathway Design Team to take the information learned during the week and build upon it to create a new Sustainability Pathway. The Workshop and Pathway Design Team work are scheduled for summer 2009 but promotional activities will begin in the fall of 2008.Credit through Rogue Community College may be available to participating teachers. The workshop will offered free of charge for teachers but will require a refundable deposit to reserve a spot.
