Sustainable Building Teacher Workshops
2009 Sustainable Building Teacher Workshop
Summer Institute in Green Building in Southern Oregon
July 6-9, 2009
Thanks to a generous grant from the State of Oregon's Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development, OBC will partner with Rogue Community College and the Southern Oregon Educational Service District to create a new pathway from high school to post-secondary education in the high-growth, high wage industry sector of green building. The project will include a one-week Teachers Workshop that will bring together high school and community college science and math teachers, counselors, curriculum staff and administrators with industry experts in the fields of sustainable architecture, construction and engineering. Out of the workshop will come a Pathway Design Team to take the information learned during the week and build upon it to create a new Green Building Pathway. The Workshop and Pathway Design Team work are scheduled for summer and fall of 2009.Credit through Rogue Community College may be available to participating teachers. Participating teachers will also earn a stipend of $200 per day for the duration of the workshop. Application deadline is March 1, 2009.
